Source-Lineage Demonstration

Interactive fabricated case illustrating the difference between document count and genuinely independent acquisition roots.

All six records in this case are fictional. The categories are a simplified causal-lineage model, not a forensic finding or probability calculation.

Enable JavaScript to explore the source relationships. The worked example is also explained below.

Expected result: photograph scenario

Six apparently corroborating records refer to an asserted occurrence. A camera-original file is copied into two reports and one social post; a separate street sensor has its own acquisition path; an unsigned witness note has an unknown origin. Only the camera and sensor are modeled as separate collection roots. The witness note is not counted as independent until its acquisition lineage is established.

What would falsify the example?

Proving a report contains separately collected imagery would change its lineage. Proving the sensor was generated from the camera's metadata would remove its independence. The interface demonstrates lineage accounting, not whether an asserted event really happened.

Rebuild the example using the dependency worksheet, recording document IDs, upstream roots and independence classification.
