A useful name, a false equivalence
The Benandanti described protection of crops through extraordinary nocturnal action. A modern agricultural defense project evaluates disease reports, crop threats, operational dependencies and verifiable safeguards. One belongs to historical testimony; the other should be accountable to empirical methods.
Why hold both on one site?
Because protecting vulnerable systems is a theme, not a chain of direct historical transmission. The metaphor may encourage thoughtful work, but it does not allow mystical imagery to substitute for field sampling or authenticated telemetry.
Responsible storytelling
Use the historical name with its context and retain a clear border between archive and portfolio. The strongest bridge is ethical: difficult problems deserve attention to those who bear the consequences of failure.
