Place is evidence
The names Cividale, Cormons and Brazzano matter because they connect testimony to ordinary settlements. A location in a deposition is not automatically the location of a supernatural event. It may be where a witness lived, where a story circulated, or where questioning took place.
Farming and vulnerability
In an agrarian economy, crop failure and illness could carry serious consequences. A local story about people protecting a harvest could therefore express community anxieties in a language that was meaningful to its participants. Such context can help explain why an account mattered without proving the claimed cause.
Modern maps, historical limits
The atlas places approximate modern town centers on a map. It does not fabricate sixteenth-century coordinates for the exact site of a night battle. Historic boundaries and place names changed, and identifying a precise location needs more than a modern geocoder.
